Chelsea Wolfe

"The Warden"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 28, 2013

As previously reported, Chelsea Wolfe's upcoming Pain Is Beauty apparently has the musician heading "in a decidedly more electronic direction than previous recordings," which certainly seems the case in the newly unveiled synth-pop prison tale "The Warden."

The track puts together a steady four-on-the-floor kick and ominous synth-bass swirls to support Wolfe's spectral moans. Her sublime and spine-shivering mid-song reveal about being bloodied-up and dragged across the floor is the catchiest component of the Scared Straight program to date. You can hear it down below.

As previously reported, Pain Is Beauty arrives September 3 through Sargent House, about a week after Wolfe kicks off a North American tour. You can check out the show specifics, including a stop in Toronto, here.
