Toronto-based post-punk crew Casper Skulls recently shared the lead track from their upcoming "King of Gold" 7-inch, which is out today (August 14) on the band's own Hip Priest Records. To celebrate the release, Exclaim! is pleased to premiere the brand new video for "King of Gold."
As previously noted, the moody, menacing song is "an observation of trust told through wordy inflection, feedback and one-chord dissonance." The video, meanwhile, capitalizes on the dark ominous vibe of the music, telling the teen angst-ridden tale of a suburban skateboarder. It was directed by Shawn Kosmerly.
"We met Nick, the lead actor in the video, at a show and he told us a story about himself that closely resembles the video," said the band in a statement. "We were inspired by that and decided to shoot it. The video is meant to capture some of the awkwardness and loneliness of adolescence."
As the song picks up speed, so does our wheeled protagonist, until he ends up blowing off a little too much steam at a party. Scroll past the band's upcoming tour dates to watch it all go down in the player below.
Tour dates:
08/15 Montreal, QB - Barfly
