Extreme metal greats Carcass ground us to a pulp this year with their glorious comeback LP Surgical Steel, which landed the No. 1 spot on Exclaim!'s Top 10 Metal & Hardcore Albums list. Now, the ensemble have announced they'll keep rotting in our free world in 2014 by heading on a North American tour.
A press release explains that Carcass are the headliners on next spring's Decibel Magazine Tour, which runs from mid-March until mid-April. Joining Carcass on all the dates are Michigan metal crew Black Dahlia Murder, Canadian death metal vets Gorguts and thrashy Baltimore upstarts Noisem. Naturally, most of the shows fall beneath the U.S./Canada border, but there are Canadian stops booked in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
"This is possibly the unsexiest Decibel Tour lineup yet," Carcass bassist/frontman Jeff Walker joked in a statement. "We're all bringing the 'girth' back to the U.S., along with gray hair and sensible footwear. But it's the music that matters, right? Just close your eyes and think of England. If that fails, think of Tampa."
While Walker may be playing it a bit coy, Carcass fans are nevertheless likely to start dusting off their medical glossaries and brushing up on their banging skills in preparation for the tour.
