Mister Parker, a.k.a. Mike Scherling, is no joke when it comes to starting a party — this Ottawa native has been winning over crowds with his progressive house and electro sets for the past twelve years, demonstrating impeccable track selection, and an appreciation for music across all generations and genres. Mister Parker has shared the stage with internationally-praised acts like Steve Angello, Axwell, and Nicky Romero, making him one to watch in Canada's rising EDM scene.

AUX: What was your introduction to DJing? What made you want to start?
Mister Parker: I started DJing when I was 18-years-old in, of all places, my parents basement. I transitioned from a love of heavy metal to the driving beats of house music. Something about the mechanics and structure of house music makes me always want more.

Where are you from, and what's the scene like for a DJ in your hometown?
I am from Ottawa and the scene here is great. There are more than one weekly show where you can get an electronic music fix and it rarely disappoints. I have a residency at a night club every Saturday and I always play the best in underground and fresh music.

Who/what are your main influences, and why?
A few influences that I have are Eric Prydz and Laidback Luke. Both have separate styles in the way they play, but each of them have perfect track selection and timing in their sets.

What's the ultimate party foul for a DJ?
Too much talking!

Why is it important for Canada to have an event like Bud Light Sensation?
[Bud Light] Sensation is important for Canada because we need to have more branded worldwide festivals. Canada's EDM scene is on point right now, and the more the better in my opinion.
