Calexico have returned with details of a new album. The Arizona-based outfit will deliver El Mirador on April 8 via Anti-.

The 12-song El Mirador follows Calexico's 2020 holiday offering Seasonal Shift, and is said to be "an evocative love letter to the desert borderlands that nourished [Calexico] for over 20 years."

Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and Spanish rocker Jairo Zavala join Calexico's Joey Burns, John Convertino and Sergio Mendoza on El Mirador. A heady, animated lyric video for the album's title track can be viewed below.

"El Mirador is dedicated to family, friends and community," Calexico's Joey Burns shared of their latest. "The pandemic highlighted all the ways we need each other, and music happens to be my way of building bridges and encouraging inclusiveness and positivity. That comes along with sadness and melancholy, but music sparks change and movement."

Calexico will tour Europe this spring, and you can find their dates here. Prior to releasing Seasonal Shift, the band teamed with Iron & Wine for 2019's Years to Burn, an album they would have toured behind in 2020 before the pandemic dashed those hopes.
