Built to Spill have announced their ninth studio album When the Wind Forgets Your Name, arriving September 9 on Sub Pop. It's the band's debut release for the label, having spent the last 25 years on Warner Bros.
Today, Doug Martsch and co. are previewing the album with new single "Gonna Lose," which comes attached to an animated video by Jordan Minkoff and Lee McClure. The new single is a relatively brief blast of tangled guitar and Martsch's keening voice, and it's unsurprisingly great.
The nine-track When the Wind Forgets Your Name was produced by Martsch and finds him backed by Le Almeida and João Cases, two members of the Brazilian psychedelic jazz-rock band Oruã who will also open for Built to Spill on their massive upcoming tour.
