Brandt Brauer Frick have detailed a new album. The German electronic trio will enter a Multi Faith Prayer Room on their sixth studio LP, out June 2 via Because Music.
Following 2019's Echo, the 13-song Multi Faith Prayer Room features collaborations with Mykki Blanco, Azekel, Sophie Hunger, Duane Harden and Marina Herlop.
The Blanco-led "Act One" arrives alongside the album news complete with a video you can find below, directed by the group's Daniel Brandt and TV STORE.
Blanco's monologue begins with the sparking of a joint, shared with "a group of local scientists" at a climate protest. Raving and a threesome ensue, as the vocalist details, "Our minds were filled with collective questions about ethics and Mother Earth. But our bodies, our bodies, they felt so right."
"I remember being struck by the idea that Mykki's story transported so effectively, it was as if the ultimate spiritual room could be nothing more than a dance club. And so it became the introduction to our album's theme, the Multi Faith Prayer Room," Brandt explains in a statement.
Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick further explained how they "wanted to go back to club music" and "write more minimal music without overdoing it in the arrangements and production" as follows:
We worked very freely. We sometimes started with a beat programmed on a machine, other times with a percussive rhythm or an instrumental sequence played on the piano or the synthesizer in our studio. The record also has a narrative element directly inspired by the way a night in a club unfolds, as you go through these different experiences.
We feel like we're drowning in the present. People are unable to project themselves into an idea of the future in the same way some did in the 1970's, for example. We decided to reconnect with the concept of utopia and encourage positive thinking about the future in our own way, away from the rise of populism.
Blanco released new album Stay Close to Music last October, and has a 2023 North American tour lined up behind the effort with three performances in Canada.
