Bonnie "Prince" Billy Announces Christmas 7-Inch, Preps Every Brothers Covers Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 10, 2012

Here's another festive release to add to your Christmas list. Following in the footsteps of Sufjan Stevens, the Polyphonic Spree and Cee Lo Green, ever-busy indie folk singer Bonnie "Prince" Billy has become the latest artist to announce plans for a holiday-themed release in 2012.

As Consequence of Sound points out, Will Oldham has teamed up with Dawn McCarthy of Faun Fables for a new 7-inch consisting of some festive Everly Brothers covers. The North American release will be handled by Drag City on November 20, and will feature "Christmas Eve Can Kill You" backed with "Walking the Dog." The UK version will come out a day earlier on Domino and will replace the B-side with "Lovey Kravezit."

In addition to acting as a welcome Christmas treat, a press release notes that these songs "offer a foreshadowing glimpse at Bonny and McCarthy's forthcoming full-length record of Everly Brothers songs; a project that was inspired by the songstress' young daughters love of the rhythm and blues duo."

The announcement continues, "Given the depth and dynamism of Bonny and Dawn's natural harmonic ability, the single is sure to awaken the inner holiday spirit (and beasts) like no other record this season."

The cover tunes were recorded by David Ferguson in Nashville. Listen to the original Every Brothers versions below.
