Body Count

Live In L.A.

BY Greg PrattPublished Jun 1, 2006

Who knew that Ice-T and the boys were still cranking out the hardcore gangsta metal of Body Count? This live DVD captures all the classics (amazingly, this band had a few!) with a low-budget look and feel to it. But the sound is great and the band has an oddly intense stage presence, something that I’ve never really seen before. Somehow it’s great as both a sociological study as well as a musical good time. Also included is a bonus CD with two new tunes — rap-influenced hardcore/metal which is cheesy and demo-quality but also kind of enjoyable and pretty damn vicious. Oops, there are no chapters on the DVD! (Navarre)
