Well, when Kele Okereke told the fans a while back there was a brand new Bloc Party record in the horizon, he certainly meant it. The band have just unveiled a remodelled lineup via a dance pop-leaning single called "The Love Within."
The single is the first to feature drummer Louise Bartle and bassist Justin Harris (Menomena), who replace founding members Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes. Still on board are guitarist Russell Lissack and Okereke.
Together, this latest version of the band deliver a smoothed-out soundscape of twisted synths, four-on-the-floor beat work and Okereke's prayer-laced lines. Considering the groove of the track, the frontman asking for a healthy set of dancing feet in the first verse seems to have been a good choice.
