Black Absinthe

'Early Signs of Denial' (album stream)

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished May 6, 2016

Toronto heavy metal trio Black Absinthe have made a jump from the basement to the studio with their debut full-length album, and though Early Signs of Denial doesn't arrive for a few more days, Exclaim! is giving you the chance to hear the entire new effort ahead of time right here.

Produced by Sum 41's Dave Baksh, the new record serves as both a cleaner and heavier presentation of the sound the band have been honing since their formation in 2011. Running six tracks in length, the LP explores fear, corruption and overcoming disparity within their blend of classic and contemporary metal stylings.

"This was our first foray into recording in a studio environment plus working with a producer and mixer," vocalist/guitarist Jack Cerre tells Exclaim! "Having a team of people around us helped us produce better songs at a higher quality to give our fans the chance to hear what we're truly about without the barrier of poor recordings. It's our jump from the basement to the studio, the raw energy is still there, but there's an added level of detail to each track."

Black Absinthe are set to perform at the Atria in Oshawa, ON, on the album's release day alongside Mutank, Dead 3 Days and Backlash. The following evening marks their album release show in their native Toronto, taking the stage with Sludgehammer, Mutank, Klaymore and Astaroth at Coaltion. You can find both dates listed below.

Early Signs of Denial officially arrives on May 13 and can be pre-ordered through the band here. For now, take a listen to the entire record in the player below.
