Best Coast have previously teamed up with Converse and Urban Outfitters, and the California pop-rock band can now add Clarks Originals to their growing list of clothing collaborators. The British shoemaker will be joining forces with Best Coast to release an exclusive 7-inch single this Record Store Day (April 20).
Best Coast announced the project in a newly unveiled 30-second trailer, and you can watch that below. The end of the clip includes a brief snippet of new music, which harkens back to the crunchy, upbeat sound of 2010's Crazy for You. There's also a shot of what appears to be the 7-inch cover (above). It's unclear if there's only one new song, or if the single also has a B-side.
Clarks Originals visited Best Coast in L.A. for the recording of the single. A documentary about the sessions will be released on March 4, and Best Coast will perform a release show in L.A. on April 20.
In related news, the teaser clip also reveals that Clarks Originals has created a special boot for Record Store Day. It's tough to tell exactly what it looks like from the black-and-white footage, but the shoe appears to have grooves from a vinyl record around its heel.
As for Best Coast's live plans, they will be touring with Green Day in the spring. They were originally scheduled to open for the pop-punk arena band this winter, but Billie Joe Armstrong's rehab stint resulted in those dates being postponed. We originally weren't sure if Best Coast would be playing the makeup dates. See the schedule, which includes Canadian appearances in Toronto and Quebec City, below.
