Best Coast

"Fear of My Identity"

For Record Store Day (April 20), California pop outfit Best Coast released a Clarks Originals-sponsored 7-inch called "Fear of My Identity," and that song has subsequently emerged online.

The song's angst-y lyrical content evokes the heart-on-sleeve material from Best Coast's second album 2012's The Only Place, but the fuzzy swath of distortion is closer to 2010's Crazy for You. This noisy arrangement is, of course, a good thing, and hopefully suggests that similar sounds will appear on the project's upcoming EP.

Singer Bethany Cosentino's dad Ricky plays drums on this tune. Take a listen below.
