Jemina Pearl Abegg, Jonas Stein, Nathan Vasquez and John Eatherly have reunited as Be Your Own Pet. After breaking up in 2008, their latest is the first new material since releasing the Get Damaged EP that same year.

New single "Hand Grenade" arrives today — courtesy of Third Man Records — alongside a music video directed and edited by Eathley, and shot on an iPhone in Pearl's basement.

"'Hand Grenade' started out as a threat to the people who harmed me, that I will make them suffer as I have suffered," Pearl explained of the track in a release.

"But the song grew like a mirror to my own grief process, through anger, denial, sorrow," she continued. "In the end I gain my power back not through violence, but through self acceptance and rejection of the labels others might put on me. I define myself, no one else."

Having reunited last year to open for Jack White's Supply Chain Issues Tour, BYOP went on to perform multiple shows at this year's SXSW. Beyond their newest release, the band have yet to announce plans for further collaboration, but hint that more music and news are on the way.

Until then, check out the video for "Hand Grenade" below.
