Sirens and Condolences

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Feb 1, 2004

Each song off of Bayside’s latest Victory release Sirens and Condolences sounds just like the one before it; classic emo guitar riffs competing with Jawbreaker-esque vocals. Because the songs blend into one another, there is no stand out track or truly memorable moment on the album. Most of the record ends up sounding like a Brand New record without the witty lyrical content, or a watered down Weezer album. There are some glimmers of hope with some cute 1960s pop combinations of voice and guitar work in "Poison in my Veins.” But, these high points are short lived, as most of the record is predictable and kind of boring.
