Toronto quartet BADBADNOTGOOD made an appearance on Kaytranada's recent LP 99.9% last month, and have now teamed up again for a collaborative track from the former's forthcoming full-length IV with "Lavender."
Marked by a variety of different keyboard tones and synth melodies, the latest preview of IV is a perfect slice of groove built for late nights. "Kay started the idea as a beat with our drum breaks and some synth melodies. Then we recut the drums and synth to formulate a song with more sections," the band told The Fader. "Kay came back to Toronto and gave us that hot lead melody as well as percussion and we all finalized the arrangement. It's an incredible honour to call Kay a close friend of ours; he is a talent like no other."
IV arrives through digital and physical retailers July 8 via Innovative Leisure in the U.S. and Arts & Crafts in Canada. Take a listen to the slow-moving "Lavender" below.
