Montreal-based composer/saxman Colin Stetson may have yet another score gig waiting for him after Hereditary director Ari Aster revealed that he's been trying to find an excuse to work together again.

Responding to questions in a Reddit AMA ahead of releasing his latest film, the beyond fucked up Beau Is Afraid — whose music was provided by Bobby Krlic (as the Haxan Cloak) — Aster was probed by a fan about whether he had "any intention on working with Colin Stetson again," adding that they loved Krlic's work but "the Hereditary soundtrack fucked me up."

"I would love to work with Colin again," Aster replied. "He's absolutely singular. He's also just a great guy. (The same goes for Bobby.)"

The Montreal-shot Beau Is Afraid marks the director's third feature film and follows 2019's similarly uneasy A24 production Midsommar, on which he also collaborated with Krlic. Given the five-year break since their collaboration on Hereditary, it may be high time for Aster to reenlist Stetson.

The composer, meanwhile, has been busy soundtracking The Menu, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022), Color Out of Space and more.
