Arcade Fire Return with New Song "I Give You Power"

After a whole bunch of hinting about a new album this year, Arcade Fire are finally putting some money where their mouth is. Yes, the band have returned with a brand new track.

The song is called "I Give You Power" and features soul queen Mavis Staples. It's so far only available via Tidal, but you can check it out below.

"I Give You Power" marks the band's first new material since 2013's Reflektor, though so far there's no official word on when we can expect a new album from the Arcade Fire camp. Previous reports, however, have indicated we could see the album this spring. It's also unclear if "I Give You Power" is a one-off track or if it will appear on the as-yet-untitled new album.

Along with the track, Arcade Fire shared the following tweets, where you can see they also changed their social media avatar:

UPDATE (1/19, 10 p.m. EST): Arcade Fire's Win Butler has now shed more light on the new song in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music's Beats 1. In it, Butler states, "It's the eve of the inauguration and I think it's easy to get sucked into sitting on the couch and checking your news feed and watching things on CNN, and we're just musicians and the only thing we have to offer is our music.... I talked to Mavis last night and she said, 'Now more than ever we just need to hold onto each other.' For us it's a feeling of solidarity — to not feel powerless and focus on what we can do as individuals and try to do our part."

You can listen to the interview below.
