Another Joe

Plasti-Scene

BY Stuart GreenPublished May 1, 2000

Taking their cues from friends and fellow Vancouverites Gob, Another Joe have graduated from playing pointless puerile pop punk to making aggressive yet melodic music with a meaning. Whether they came about this new direction on their own or with the help of album producer Ernie (from Removal) is irrelevant. The bottom line is that the ten songs on their third release (fourth if you include a split CD with Gob) rock harder and with more purpose than anything they've done. While all the songs are short and fairly solid, it's "You, Yourself and I," a four-minute full-on rocker, that is the disc's centrepiece. Plasti-Scene is definitely a refreshing most welcome change for the better.
