Angel Olsen got fans' hopes up for a new album when she dropped the "Intern" video last week, and now suspicions of a new full-length have been confirmed. The American singer-songwriter will release My Woman on September 2 through Jagjaguwar.
The new record was produced by Justin Raisen at Los Angeles' Vox Studios. Her regular backing band of bassist Emily Elhaj, drummer Joshua Jaeger, and guitarist Stewart Bronaugh were joined by additional guitar work from Seth Kauffman for the recording.
In a press release, Olsen said the new album confronts "the complicated mess of being a woman." She elaborated a bit on the creative process behind that theme, admitting: "I'm definitely using scenes that I've replayed in my head, in the same way that I might write a script and manipulate a memory to get it to fit. But I think it's important that people can interpret things the way that they want to."
The previously shared "Intern" serves as the opening track, and it gets paired with some more explicitly female-oriented tunes like "Sister" and "Woman." You can peruse the rest of the tracklisting below.
You can also see Olsen's just-announced North American tour dates listed down below. She'll be dropping by some Canadian festivals this summer before returning for autumn shows in Montreal and Toronto on September 23 and 24, respectively.
My Woman marks the follow-up to 2014's Burn Your Fire for No Witness.
