Conservative leader Andrew Scheer will have his very own song blasting when he attends a rally in the Ontario riding of Vaughan-Woodbridge tonight. It's called "Get Ahead," and it was written by frequent Bryan Adams collaborator Jim Vallance.
Vallance is best known for co-writing Adams' hits like "Summer of '69," "Run to You," "Cuts Like a Knife" and "Heaven."
Down below, you can hear "Get Ahead," which references Scheer's campaign slogan of "It's Time for You to Get Ahead."
"If you listen closely, I think you can hear a few... chord progressions that remind you of some of his work," the Conservatives' director of communications told CBC. "We're very happy with what he came up with."
As per the terms of their contract, the party did not reveal how much Vallance was paid for his contribution or who performed the recording.
Other parties have yet to reveal campaign music, though during the last election, former NDP leader Tom Mulcair used "We're All in This Together" by Sam Roberts Band, and Liberal leader and current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau often walked out to deadmau5's "The Veldt."
Frankly, Scheer's new anthem is almost as painful as his party's incessant attack ads and unsolicited texts. Listen to it — at your own discretion — below.
