Andrew Pekler's first release as a Berliner (the California native moved to Germany last fall) is a sexy, jazzy, down-tempo recording with an electronic edge. "Manchild" is a standout track and Sun Ra Arkestra free jazz veteran Elliot Levin delivers a fascinating sax solo to which Pekler retrofitted his own music. If not for Wabi-Sabi imprecision throughout, this would make great easy listening at sophisticated all-age cocktail parties tired of hearing Check Your Head on repeat all night.
