Alice Glass Fires Back at Ethan Kath, Defends Her Role in Crystal Castles
Last year, we thought that it might be the end of Crystal Castles when vocalist Alice Glass left the band. Yesterday (April 16), however, producer Ethan Kath announced that he will continue with the project, and he diminished Glass' contributions by referring to her as "my former vocalist" and suggesting that he wrote the songs. Now, Glass has fired back, and she clearly doesn't see eye-to-eye with Kath.

In a string of tweets today, Glass asserted that Crystal Castles were a duo and not Kath's glorified solo project. She explained that she co-founded the band, wrote the bulk of the vocal parts herself, and helped to shape their sound and direction. She called Kath's statements "manipulative" and said that she made the right decision to leave the group.

See the tweets below. To be fair, Kath didn't outright claim that he wrote all of the band's lyrics, but his statement that "people often gave her credit for my lyrics" seemed to imply as much. He edited down the statement that he posted on SoundCloud — it was previously attached to the new track "Frail" — but the full comment already made the rounds on the internet.

We can't help but wonder: does Glass take equal credit for the band's douchiness?

Meanwhile, we can evidently expect more music from Kath (as Crystal Castles) and Glass (with her own project) soon. Hear "Frail" below.
