Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole Are Indeed Working on a Collaborative Album, Ab-Soul Says

A "Black Friday" gift from Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole last year further fuelled rumours about a collaborative album from the two MCs, and while no concrete details have surfaced on the project yet, Lamar's TDE cohort Ab-Soul added to the mystique surrounding the effort.

In an appearance on The Breakfast Club to support his own album DWTW, Ab-Soul was asked by host Charlemagne repeatedly whether he had any involvement in the project. The California MC said, "I can't speak on that. I wish I could," adding, "I don't really know too much about it. I just hope they use my verse."

After further prodding, Soul revealed that "There is [an album]. They got it. They got something in the works. They been working on that motherfucker for a while."

Upon being asked for further comment by The Fader through email, the MC responded, "It's a myth *joker smile*."

Ab-Soul's DWTW arrived today (December 9) alongside J. Cole's latest project 4 Your Eyez Only. Lamar returned to action earlier this year with one of Exclaim!'s top hip-hop releases of 2016 in untitled unmastered.

Watch the interview with Ab-Soul below, with comments regarding Kendrick and Cole starting around the 24:00 mark.
