"It's the scariest movie of all"

We already knew that the kids from Stranger Things are adorable onscreen and that the youngsters in the cast get along IRL too, but they took their friendship to a whole new level this Halloween.

Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard and Noah Schnapp appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (November 2), and revealed that they spent the spookiest night of the year watching, uh, High School Musical.

"I got a text from Gaten saying, 'Come downstairs, we're gonna watch a bunch of scary movies,'" Wolfhard explained. "I show up and they're watching High School Musical — the scariest movie of all!"

Matarazzo blamed the film selection on castmate Sadie Sink and his younger sister (who grew up with the popular kids franchise), but admits that once Sink started singing along, "It opened a floodgate in my brain and all of a sudden I start singing the harmonies — and the correct words."

Wolfhard then joked Zac Efron's Troy Bolton character in High School Musical is the reason he took up playing basketball, and shared his melodramatic impression of Efron in the film.

Watch the kids from Stranger Things gush about their love for High School Musical in the clip below. It's only slightly less cringe-worthy than Millie Bobby Brown's rap from earlier this week.
