Former Orange Is the New Black and upcoming Batwoman star Ruby Rose underwent emergency surgery after a stunt-related injury left her at risk for becoming paralyzed.

The actor documented the whole ordeal and shared a short (but very graphic) video of the procedure on Instagram. Apparently, the injury occurred while onset filming the Batwoman TV series, whose production was temporarily halted due to the incident, Vulture reports.

Rose posted the video and some background information after being repeatedly asked about the new scar on her back.

"A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed," Rose said. "I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn't feel my arms."

She went on to thank her healthcare team "for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love."

Rose also addressed those questioning her decision to let them film the surgery.

"And to anyone asking why I let them video it… Did you not watch that Grey's Anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient??" she joked. "Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under."

Rose is about to make her debut as the lead heroine in Batwoman, which premieres on October 6 on the CW.
