Noel Fielding Is Joining 'The Great British Bake Off'

Canada is getting its own version of The Great British Bake Off, but before the maple-glazed, peameal bacon-crusted The Great Canadian Baking Show hits CBC this fall, there will be some serious changes coming to the UK original.

In addition to the show's move from BBC to Channel 4, esteemed judge Mary Berry and hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have all jumped ship before the series totally jumps the shark. But the newly unveiled hosts might be enough to keep viewers hooked, especially since Noel Fielding leads the cast.

The Mighty Boosh actor/comedian has been named a new Bake Off host, alongside QI's Sandi Toksvig. It's not her first time stepping into big TV presenting shoes, as she took over her QI hosting gig from Stephen Fry.

Food writer, restaurateur and TV presenter Prue Leith, meanwhile, will attempt to fill Berry's shoes as a newly named judge. She joins Paul Hollywood — the series' only remaining original cast member.

The news of Fielding's new job title has seemingly already inspired lofty TV hosting gigs from other oddball entertainers, with his pal Russell Brand joking on Twitter that he would soon be gunning for a gig on UK reality dance competition Strictly Come Dancing.

The Great British Bake Off's new season is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year.
