Mel Gibson Was Hospitalized for Coronavirus

The coronavirus does not care about your cultural clout and has infected a number of celebrities both beloved and washed-up. Among them is Mel Gibson, who was apparently hospitalized for the disease earlier this year.

A spokesperson confirmed to People that Gibson tested positive for the disease in the spring. "He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital," they said. "He was treated with the drug Remdesivir while in the hospital, and has tested negative numerous times since then, as well as positive for the antibodies."

It's the latest Mel Gibson headline in a string of press for all the wrong reasons. The actor was recently accused of making incredibly racist comments to Winona Ryder at a party (which he denied) and was also criticized for taking on a role that many people view as anti-Semitic.
