With the internet being more cluttered than ever, Canadian tech company Play MPE is stepping up to deliver a global platform for digital music promotion, distribution and discovery.

Born in Vancouver in 2007, the company is now in more than 100 countries, as well as changing the status quo in Canada, when it comes to how the music industry promotes and accesses content.

This year, Play MPE began branching out by hosting a ton of major label content in Canada, with an array of independent promoters and labels also among its ranks. In April, Play MPE even supported the release of Sony Music Canada/ArtistsCAN cover "Lean On Me," complete with gratis global promotional distribution in response to COVID-19. That single was picked up in more than 11 countries.

Play MPE clients include the likes of Universal Music Group, Warner Music, Sony Entertainment, BMG, Big Machine, Beggars, [PIAS] eOne Entertainment, Epitaph and many more, making it the largest and most widely used platform of its kind.

As Play MPE explains, the company is "on a mission to change the way the music industry connects by continuously innovating, delivering new features, expanding their digital ecosystem and listening to their clients and recipients."

Play MPE is made of two applications — Caster and Player. The Caster application is for music promotion campaign creation and distribution, with record labels, promoters and artists creating releases to be sent directly and securely to tastemakers around the world.

Player, meanwhile, is a music discovery application "where the world's top tastemakers access the latest music and reissues of classic catalog releases — before everyone else." There's also a recently updated Player mobile app, both for iOS and Android.
