Jared Leto Wants His Own 'House of Gucci' Prequel

God help us all

Jared Leto's prosthetic-caked performance in House of Gucci is arguably one of the wildest parts of an impressively wild movie — though Lady Gaga takes the cake for most unhinged press cycle, which is a real feat when someone like Leto is also involved — and he's convinced that the people need more of his cartoonish Italian cosplay.

In a new interview for The Jess Cagle Show on Sirius XM, Leto said that he'd like to have his own House of Gucci prequel that follows the life of Paolo Gucci.

"I'd love to do a prequel to House of Gucci," Leto told Cagle. "'Just the Two of Us,' we could call it."

Leto's Gucci was presented as the weirdo underdog of Ridley Scott's bloated movie, and his performance is attention-grabbingly bonkers, but it feels unlikely that people care enough about his character to watch an entire movie about him and his rubber-plastered face. But Jared Leto is nothing if not team Jared Leto.

Elsewhere in the interview, Leto says that his on-set transformation was such that Al Pacino — who plays Leto's father Aldo Gucci — didn't recognize him.

"He thought I was just an Italian weirdo that was trying to talk to him or get his autograph or something," Leto said. "I come up to him two or three times and someone finally whispered, 'That's Paolo, that's Jared under there.' And he was like, 'My son, my son,' and he fell to the floor. He was just astounded."

Pacino, brought to his knees by Jared Leto's chameleonic actorly powers! Between Gaga's and Leto's accounts (and Adam Driver's apparent exhaustion with the whole thing) this film set sounds like it was a genuine fever dream.
