"That would be like if you guys were saying, 'Hey, Lady Gaga's playing tonight!' I wouldn't like that."

Madonna brought her career-spanning Celebration tour through Toronto for its first Canadian stops late last week — unbeknownst to the Queen of Pop herself, apparently. She apologized to the audience at Friday's (January 12) concert after accidentally greeting them by saying "Hello Boston!" onstage.

"Are you guys mad at me 'cause I said 'Hello Boston!'?" Madge asked in fan-captured footage posted to TikTok. "I'm sorry. What kind of fucked up shit is that?"

Now, to be fair, Boston was the last city she had performed in earlier last week before coming to Toronto, and our accents are nearly identical. It's a mistake anyone could make!

Madonna continued, "That would be like if you guys were saying, 'Hey, Lady Gaga's playing tonight!' I wouldn't like that."

"I mean, you know, nothing against Lady Gaga," she clarified, laughing. "Love her. I do! I love anyone shorter than me."

Madonna and Lady Gaga were embroiled in a feud for much of the 2010s after the former accused the latter of ripping her off with "Born This Way," which does indeed sound a lot like "Express Yourself." However, they appear to have buried the hatchet: last year, Gaga publicly congratulated Madonna for selling out her tour, and Madonna returned the goodwill by dancing to Gaga's "Bloody Mary" — from the Born This Way album — in a TikTok.
