Christopher Dennis — a famed street performer known for portraying Superman on Hollywood Boulevard for more than two decades — has died. Dennis was 52.

Prominently featured in the 2007 documentary Confessions of a Superhero and known as "Hollywood Superman," Dennis was found dead on Saturday (November 2) in the San Fernando Valley, TMZ reports. According to law enforcement officials, Dennis was found lying headfirst in a bin used to collect clothing donations.

Known for his uncanny resemblance to late Superman actor Christopher Reeve, Dennis was homeless and was attempting to get clothing for himself, officials told TMZ. No foul play is suspected.

As Confessions of a Superhero showed, Dennis spent much of his life impersonating Superman on the famed Hollywood Boulevard, where he made a living posing with tourists for photos. Sadly, he was the victim of a robbery and near-fatal assault, which rendered him homeless and unable to work.

Thanks to a Kickstarter campaign, though, Dennis was eventually able to purchase a new Superman suit and return to work. As TMZ reports, Dennis had once again fallen upon hard times recently.

In addition to appearing in Confessions of a Superhero, Dennis was a regular on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

In response to the sad news, the Super Museum shared the following tribute post:
