From surprise appearances at IHOP and Guelph's Milestones to impromptu Toronto pick-up basketball games, Adam Sandler is arguably among the most omnipresent A-listers (step it up, Bill Murray). Now, the Sandman is proving he transcends mere corporeal presence with his spectre being reproduced by students and faculty at multiple high school spirit week theme days in recent weeks.

Yep, it's apparently all the rage to hold "Adam Sandler Day" dress-ups in high school these days, with institutions across the US β€” from Texas to Iowa, Ohio to Illinois β€” celebrating their "spirit" for the actor.

While most students' outfits seem to be informed by the general Sandman vibe, some have actually replicated his movie roles with their costumes. However, constants remain: most tributes come together with a pair of baggy gym shorts, a backwards hat, slides, an athletic T-shirt and other very normal items of clothing.

It's not clear how Sandler's signature fashion choices relate to school spirit, but it's possible this writer missed that particular form of indoctrination when she was hanging out in the smokers' pit between classes.

Check out a video of a previous iteration of the Sandler-themed celebrations, and scroll past that for some more recent Adam Sandler Day artistry.
