It's been seven long years since Gossip Girl said its final "XOXO" and signed off for good, but the scintillating and scandalous lives of New York socialites never cease. As such, the show is getting rebooted.
A new Gossip Girl is being prepped for the HBO Max streaming app, with plans to showcase the lives of a new batch of teens in New York's upper classes.
"Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl," an official statement reads. "The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years."
Despite how trashy it was, Gossip Girl was also unbelievably watchable. Here's hoping the reboot can strike that same tone.
