Eddie Murphy Wants to Make 'Shrek 5'

"I love Donkey"

Eddie Murphy does not need to check himself before he Shreks himself. Not only is the comedian all for a fifth Shrek movie, but he's also into the idea of a full-fledged Donkey spinoff.

Speaking with Etalk, Murphy expressed immense interest in reprising his role as Donkey, saying he'd do it immediately. "If they ever, you know, came with another Shrek I'd do it in two seconds. I love Donkey," he said.

While the last Shrek movie, Shrek Forever After, came out in 2010, the franchise has continued intermittently throughout the years with the Puss in Boots spinoff films — the most recent of which was released late last year. Murphy is also adamant that he thinks Donkey would make better spinoff content than Antonio Banderas' feline character.

"They did Puss in Boots movies," he explained. "I was like, 'They should have did [sic] a Donkey movie! Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots!' I love Puss in Boots, but he ain't as funny as the Donkey. No, I would do a Donkey movie, I would do another Shrek."

Hopefully, this means Banderas is right, and that a Shrek 5 is coming our way soon. Donkey is love, donkey is life.
