The Nicolas Cage-led Dream Scenario recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and a trailer for the film has arrived ahead of its wide release this November.

Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, the film stars Cage as Paul Matthews, an academic and "hapless family man" whose life takes a strange turn upon appearing in the dreams of millions of strangers. As one woman explains in the trailer, "You don't do anything. You're just... there."

But as the trailer continues — and even with that nice Cranberries song playing — one learns that Cage's dream state appearances soon take on nightmarish qualities. You can watch it below.

Selecting Dream Scenario as one of the Best Films of TIFF 2023, Exclaim! wrote that the film is "horrific, hilarious and heartfelt in the strangest way possible."

In an 8/10 review of Dream Scenario, film editor Rachel Ho writes of how Borgli's latest "evades any particular genre, straddling the sensibilities of horror, comedy and drama, while also being a metaphysical character study in banality and a satirical exploration of today's media cycle."

Dream Scenario was scored by Owen Pallett, and also stars Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula and Dylan Baker. The film arrives in theatres November 10.
