Canada Is Getting Its Own Version of 'Drag Race'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 27, 2019

After finally letting a Canadian compete on Season 11 of RuPaul's Drag Race, the franchise is launching its very own Canadian incarnation of the popular reality show.

Simply dubbed Drag Race Canada, it doesn't sound like RuPaul will be appearing as the host and main judge. The drag superstar has given the spinoff his blessing, though.

"This new franchise has my whole-hearted blessing," RuPaul said in a statement. "Good luck…and don't puck it up!"

The hosts and panel of judges will comprise Canadian talent, but they will be announced at a later date.

Drag Race Canada will begin casting this summer, with production on a 10-episode series to begin this fall in Ontario.

It will air on Crave and OUTtv, though a premiere date has not yet been set.

The Canadian rendition of Drag Race follows last year's news of the show's expansion to the U.K. Productions in Thailand and Chile are also under way.
