The Bronze

Red Band Trailer

So far, the funniest gymnastics movie has been 2006's Stick It, which featured Montreal actress Missy Peregrym in a bunch of awkward punk shirts. In other words, the gymnastic comedy genre is one that's waiting for a good entry, and The Bronze just might be it.

This year's Sundance opener marks the debut film from Bryan Buckley and stars Melissa Rauch alongside Gary Cole, Thomas Middleditch, Haley Ly Richardson, Cecily Strong and Sebastian Stan.

Rauch plays a bronze medalist who returns home to small-town Ohio with a bad attitude. Based on the trailer, it looks like it could have the angry, foul-mouthed humour of Danny McBride's breakthrough flick The Foot Fist Way with the wacky colour palette of Jared Hess's comedies.

The Bronze will arrive in March of 2016. Watch its trailer below.
