'Archie' Movies Officially in Development at Warner Bros.

Thanks to the hit CW show Riverdale, we finally get to see what it would be like if Archie Andrews was a brooding sexpot who wandered around the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. As it turns out, however, the show is not the only Archie property in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater has signed a development deal for multiple movies with Warner Bros.

The films won't be connected to the ripped, angsty sex-havers of Riverdale. Further, the films are expected to go beyond the standard Archie characters to explore the likes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats and the superheroes of Dark Circle.

"Archie is unique in that we have a huge library of characters that are not only recognizable, but they're successful and entertaining," Goldwater told THR. "Everyone knows Josie and Sabrina. Beyond that, we have an entire pantheon of heroes and villains that are perfect for TV or movies. Not to mention Katy Keene, Black Hood, Sam Hill, just to name a few. The possibilities are endless, and I can't wait to start talking about what we have coming up."

Stay tuned for more news on the Archie movies as it becomes available.
