Comedy legends Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy will soon get the big-screen treatment from filmmaker Jon S. Baird (Filth), but the question remained as to who would fill their shoes. Now, two of today's most excellent comedic actors have stepped in to take on the roles.

As Deadline reports, Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly will take on the beloved pair in Baird's forthcoming feature Stan & Ollie.

The film was written by Coogan's Philomena screenwriter Jeff Pope, and will follow the pair's latter career. Specifically, it'll follow them as they tour the UK in 1953, where their audiences were dwindling and their friendship is tested.

Stan & Ollie was developed by BBC Films and will be produced by Sonesa Films and Fable Pictures. The rights for Laurel and Hardy's work were also licensed from Larry Harmon Pictures.
