Toronto-via-Winnipeg's Aisha Alfa had a really impressive, energetic, and funny standup set, revealing a lot about herself and her single state of mind. Her series of get-to-know-me bits were priceless, beginning with her oft-mispronounced name, which is actually short for Aishatu and, tragically, properly pronounced, "I shat." Just her talking about being in the throes of passion with someone saying, "It feels so good, I shat" was amazing.
There was a lot of relationship stuff, including horror stories about online dating and how much time women invest in their profiles because they care, while she receives invitations from 68-year-old married men, "looking for something on the side." Between jokes about straightening her curly Afro, getting a Brazilian and being advised to wax her moustache (and being transformed into a "black naked lady Hitler"), Alfa displayed a no-holds-barred level of intimacy. She was physical and expressive and hilarious.
