While the specifics are slim, New York indie artist Waxahatchee (a.k.a. Katie Crutchfield ) has revealed that the official follow-up to her 2013 breakthrough LP Cerulean Salt will be delivered early next year through Merge.
The, ahem, merger was announced today (December 11), noting that the North Carolina imprint will handle the North American market, while Wichita retains release duties over in Europe.
"I'm so happy to announce that Waxahatchee will be working with Merge," Crutchfield exclaimed in a statement. "They've been one of my favourite labels for a very long time. They're wonderful people, and I'm so excited about making records with them in the future!"
Though no concrete info has been given behind the release, from album title to due date to tracklisting, North American fans have heard a couple of cuts on the upcoming LP. Earlier in the fall, an appearance in Toronto had her playing a handful of new songs slated to appear on her third album. She had promised as much when she announced the November trip.
