Vancouver's Peak Performance Project is now in its fourth year, and the past few months have seen contenders vying for a whopping prize of $102,700. Now, 102.7 The Peak and Music BC have announced the winner of the 2012 edition of the contest: Vancouver pop-rock act Dear Rouge.
The results were announced last night (November 22) during a sold-out show at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom. BC folk songwriter Jordan Klassen took home the second place prize worth $75,000, while third place finisher Dominique Fricot won $50,000. Four and fifth place artists JP Maurice and Mike Edel won $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
As part of the contest, all of the artists had to collaborate to write and record original songs. These were recorded by producers Warne Livesey, Jeff Dawson, Shawn Cole, Winston Hauschild and Alex "Condor" Aligizakis, and make up the compilation Love and Bravery.
