Following reports earlier today (January 26) that Blink-182 singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge had quit the band, it's now being reported that the musician is just taking a time-out from the pop punk project and not leaving it entirely.
Rumours of DeLonge's supposed departure sprang from a statement by a Blink-182 publicist given to Radio.com. While the publication initially wrote that DeLonge "quit" the band, it soon changed its story to state that he's only "taking a break."
UPDATE: DeLonge has taken to his Instagram and confirmed that he has indeed not quit Blink-182. You can see his post below.
UPDATE 2: DeLonge's Blink-182 bandmates have now weighed in with their side of the story, saying they stand by their initial press statement. You can read what they have to say here.
"We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason," the statement to Radio.com reads. "A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio we got an email from his manager explaining that he didn't want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavours."
Remaining members Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker won't be bailing on their previously scheduled March 22 performance at California's Musink Festival, though, with the pair drafting Alkaline Trio singer/guitarist Matt Skiba to fill in for that show.
"No hard feelings, but the show must go on for our fans," the statement adds.
DeLonge's Angels and Airwaves issued their The Dream Walker LP in December.
