Austin, TX-based ambient drone ensemble Stars of the Lid have kept pretty quiet lately, not having a released an LP since 2007's sprawling And Their Refinement of the Decline. And while the band don't have any new material to offer listeners, a newly pressed LP version of their 1997 LP The Ballasted Orchestra will be issued early next year.
Longtime label Kranky will deliver the vinyl repress January 7, and the set's sonics were remastered by the band's Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie. A tracklisting hasn't popped up for the latest version of the 2LP set, but it doesn't appear as if it will include any extra material.

Before the reissue arrives, Stars of the Lid will make some rare live appearances in the UK on December 9 at the All Tomorrow's Parties fest in Camber Sands, and the next night at London's Church of St. John. The performances will reportedly find Wiltzie and Brian McBride accompanied by a nine-piece string section.
