After having got back together in 2013, New York death metal militia Skinless have now announced the details behind their first post-reunion LP. Their first full-length in nearly a decade is called Only the Ruthless Remain, and it tears into retailers June 2 via Relapse.
A press release notes that this will be the follow-up to 2006's Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead, and it promises Only the Ruthless Remain will feature a blend of "punishing, concussively heavy grooves and surgically precise, blasting severity."
"These songs have the Skinless heavy groove but we added guitar solos and some different elements to bring it to the next level," guitarist Noah Carpenter had said in a statement ahead of the recording sessions.
Much of the recording was done with producer Tom Case at upstate New York studios Edie Road and Doomsday Bunker, while frontman Sherwood Webber's vocals were tracked at Denver's Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Primitive Man). Mastering duties were handled by Brad Boatright at Portland's Audiosiege.
Though a tracklisting has yet to be revealed behind the seven-song set, working titles had included "Serpenticide," "Skinless" and "The Beast Smells Blood." In the meantime you can witness the gruesome, eye-gouging artwork from Ken Sarafin up above.
