Shad

"Progress (Part 1: American Pie, Part 2: The Future is Here)" (video)

We're getting close to the one year anniversary of Shad's Flying Colours LP, but the Vancouver-based rapper is keeping the promo cycle behind the set going strong. Just now, he's issued a connect-the-dots-styled set of visuals behind the album's heady "Progress (Part 1: American Pie, Part 2: The Future Is Here)."

Directed by Justin Broadbent, the video is presented as a website scrolling a series of visuals atop a marble backdrop, all tying into Shad's lyrics somehow.

This plays on the nose with pictures of an American Pie DVD pairing with the Don McLean-indebted hook, while also stringing together a shot of Amy Winehouse for a 27 Club-referencing lyric, footage of the Rodney King beating, an image of a Barenaked Ladies album, text messages and more. Shad also pops in for a bit, seated on a balcony while singing the hook.

You'll find the video supporting Shad's Polaris Music Prize-nominated LP down below.
