Hype continues to build behind the upcoming James Bond film, Spectre, with UK pop star Sam Smith heading onto Twitter today (September 21) to tease the masses with a symphonic snippet of its theme song, "Writing's on the Wall."

The single officially goes live this Friday (September 25), but that didn't stop Smith from giving the fans a sneak peek of what's in store. As you'll hear down below, the track, which was co-written between Smith and Jimmy Napes, seems to be full of sensuous strings and brass.

The song goes up as a digital download this Friday, but will also be sold as a CD single that's due to land October 23 and a 7-inch vinyl single that should arrive by November 6. Pre-order info for the physical copies of "Writing's on the Wall" can be found over here.

"This is one of the highlights of my career," Smith had previously said in a statement. "I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it."

In related news, a soundtrack release has also been confirmed behind Spectre. Composer Thomas Newman (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) will have his score to the 24th Bond flick hitting retailers November 13 via Decca. Newman had previously scored the 2012 Bond instalment, Skyfall.

Tracklisting info has yet to arrive for the Spectre: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, making it unclear if Smith's "Writing's on the Wall" will likewise make an appearance on the release.

As for the film itself, Spectre materializes onto UK movie screens on October 26 and in North America on November 6.
