Dieter Moebius, a pioneer of Krautrock, kosmische and electronic music, has passed away at the age of 71. Moebius was best known for his work with Cluster, Kluster and Harmonia, though he also maintained a prolific solo career and released Nidemonex just last year.
The news was first broken by Neu!/Kraftwerk member Michael Rother, who worked with Moebius in the Brian Eno-collaborating Harmonia. He shared the following Facebook post:
The news was quickly corroborated with a post from the Cluster Facebook account. Though three-quarters of the post is in German, Google translate reveals that it's a heartfelt memorial, complete with the confession that Cluster's Hans-Joachim Roedelius hadn't spoken to Moebius since they parted ways in 2010.
