Prurient Returns with 'Through the Window' LP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 6, 2012

Despite a high-profile run with icy new wave darlings Cold Cave, Dominick Fernow has never turned his back on his noise project Prurient. Up next from the prolific soundscaper is an LP called Through the Window. You can nab it on CD, LP and digitally through Blackest Ever Black come February.

The three-song set kicks off with the nearly 20-minute title track, which a press release says represents "the ultimate expression not only of Fernow's affection for European techno forms, but also his ability to apply them to his own uniquely lacerating purpose. The goal is exorcism and self-knowledge, not ecstasy."

You can sample a moody section of "Through the Window," which bounces from moody club jams to shrill sonic scrapings and back again, down below.

The techno-tinged industrial tunes were apparently tracked at the same time as Prurient's 2011 set Bermuda Drain, just before the musician moved to Los Angeles.

Through the Window:

1. Through The Window (19:47)
2. Terracotta Spine (3:49)
3. You Show Great Spirit (10:11)
